Worth the Splurge Designer: Tory Burch

A big reason I wanted to start Vanity Faux was not only to share & discuss two of my great passions outside the  music industry (cooking and fashion), but also because I frequented so many fashion blogs where the girls were advertising and wearing items that I simply could not afford. Sadly, I don't have a six figure income and just can't run out to purchase YSL bags or an Alexander McQueen blouse. Therefore, I wanted to also use Vanity Faux as a way to showcase the simple methods of dressing and putting together an outfit that's in-style but won't break the bank!

However, my passion for designers and the fashion world runs extremely deep and you'll find that throughout Vanity Faux, I will throw in designers or designer items that I find are more than worth the splurge. These items will have qualifications though! To be "worth the splurge" the designer or item must:
  • Be timeless. Trends are amazing but spending a great deal of money on something means you should be able to wear it 5 years from now!
  • Be versatile. You want to spend your annual bonus on something you can wear with numerous outfits, to any occasion.
  • Be FABULOUS. Goes without saying, right?

With the upcoming Fall 2011 fashion season proving to already be one of the greats, I'd like to start my "Worth the Splurge" with a spotlight on a rising designer whose styles truly represent classic, timeless and versatility--Tory Burch.

The "Worth the Splurge" Tory Burch item in my wardrobe is a given: The Reva Ballet Flats.
It took me quite sometime to decide on whether or not I wanted to go ahead and dish out the money for these, as I find that they've become somewhat unoriginal. Everywhere you go in New York City, a woman is wearing these! However, once you try them on, it's easy to see why: they're just the perfect combination of dainty and style.

Last fall, I made the splurge and purchased these snakeskin Reva Ballet flats:

They quickly became one of my favorite pairs of shoes and I can honestly say that I have most certainly gotten quite a great deal of wear in them--they go with so MANY different ensembles!

I decided to feature some of my favorite items from Tory Burch's Fall 2011 collection in my first Worth the Splurge, as she has clearly continued in her already cemented tradition of making timeless, gorgeous fashion with a classic female twist.

(I'll be talking more later about how I feel a Pussy-bow blouse or dress is a Fall '11 staple!)

So many gorgeous options, and I truly feel any of these pieces meet all of my splurge-worth qualifications. For now, and since I cannot yet justify (or frankly, afford!) a $650 handbag, I think I am going to try to focus my pennies on the Selma Riding Boots as nothing says fall/winter like a beautiful pair of flat, comfortable yet drool-worthy boots! Hope to see you soon, boots!
